Eight Ways To Reduce Waste And Do Good For The Planet

Eight Ways To Reduce Waste And Do Good For The Planet Ok I know I have posted a lot of save the planet blogs, but every time I read something new on the subject I feel the need to get the message out there again. Here are Eight Ways To Reduce Waste And Do Good For The Planet  I myself need to be reminded of how easy it is to take the convenient plastic cup to hold your iced tea, and how simple changes can really make a difference when you start to implement them. But these are actually a bit different ideas… try one or two and see if it works for you.  Gretta 1- Make your own toothpaste; Imagine how many tubes would not have to be made in the factories…. recipe… 2 tablespoons organic coconut oil, 1 tablespoon baking soda, 20 drops of organic peppermint oil. Let’s Clean The Beach From Harmful Plastics…

Let’s Clean The Beach From Harmful Plastics…

Let’s Clean The Beach From Harmful Plastics… On my beach walk in Malibu this morning the tide was high and the garbage that had spilled out of the pacific ocean was strewn for miles. Let’s Clean The Beach From Harmful Plastics… was my next thought.  I was immediately inspired to pick up all the bottles and caps but didn’t have a bag to hold it all. My husband Jeff and I vowed to return with some big bags to pick it up next time. Then I saw this little doll all tangled in the seaweed and thought what a great photo to depict the plastic problem at the shore. Obviously she was swept away from a little disheartened child who left the beach upset without her toy. All things happen for a reason and sorry lil one but this half broken little hunk of plastic was the inspiration for my next blog. Let’s educate people on how to keep plastics out of the oceans. Plastic is indestructible and lightweight, it floats around in the oceans all over the planet and washes up on shore. People who bring plastic items to the beach and leave them there are a big part of the problem. -Please, clean-up your trash and bring it home to recycle or at least place it in a trash can at the beach. Pollution also  happens  by materials carried to sea from rivers in large coastal cities. -Always pick up trash, know that it will make it’s way to our precious oceans where marine life will be ingesting it. Ships at sea and offshore oil platforms that deliberately or...
Refuse, Ten Ways to Send a Message to Manufacturers

Refuse, Ten Ways to Send a Message to Manufacturers

Refuse, Ten Ways to Send A Message To Manufacturers Refuse, a way to say no to things you don’t need. Here are some ideas to stop accepting unneeded items. 1- Send a message to companies by refusing to take all of their unneeded packaging. Find like items that are minimally packaged. 2- Refuse plastic bags. Carry canvas bags in your car and always remember to bring them in. 3- Refuse to buy GMOs an unhealthy option to organic grown food. 4- Get a filtered water system such a s Culligan instead of plastic bottles. The water is as dirty as city water anyway. Every 5 minutes 2 million plastic bottles are thrown away, using 750 million gallons of crude oil per year In the U.S. Only 20% of those bottles are recycled. 5- Refuse the shoe box when buying new shoes. The message will get back to the manufacturer that the box is not needed. 6- Bring metal containers to the restaurant to take home the leftovers. 7- Don’t take the freebies that companies offer. Do you really need that pen or calendar, or will it end up in the garbage? 8- Buy lunch meat and cheese from the deli counter. You can bring your own containers and a consciously green organic market will have no problem with it. 9- Use bulk liquid soap such as castile soap for dish and hand cleaner. Baking soda as a scrubber in a parmesan shaker with a compostable brush. 10- Bring a pillow case to the bakery to collect loaves of bread. (don’t care what others think, how is that serving the...
Ten Ways to a Greener Moving Day

Ten Ways to a Greener Moving Day

Ten Ways to a Greener Moving Day Well, today was moving day for me and once again the amount of work involved is overwhelming. I always feel terrible looking at my stuff as a whole. Seeing those two giant moving trucks get filled up with all our earthly belongings definitely doesn’t make me feel like a minimalist, but more of a hoarder. Anyway, at least I took measures in being green about the hauling of the items. Below is a list of ways in which I put some effort into respecting the earth on moving day. 1- I asked the movers to only use blankets and not plastic or bubble wrap on the furniture and breakable items. 2- Use local movers who are not traveling far to get to you, using more fuel. 3- Ask if the moving company will sell you used boxes. 4- Use a mover who is green and uses paperless quotes. 5- Find out if the company uses eco-bins that are reusable. 6- Use your towels you are shipping anyway to wrap glassware. 7- Don’t throw away old electronics (they corrode and seep into the water table.) Any Staples center will take them and recycle them for you. 8- Use companies such as Freecycle or other donation organizations to pass along your unwanted items. 9- A green moving company will sometimes use bio-diesel instead of regular fuel. 10- Use the product recocube, a replacement for petroleum foam padding. It’s made from newspaper sludge. There’s a company called Movegreen that plants ten trees for every move via affiliate partner “Trees for Future.” “If you want to awaken...

Enlightenment, A Gift For Yourself

Enlightenment, A Gift For Yourself

There is a Universal intelligence in which all of us share. No soul is less or more important than you. You are divine and were created perfectly out of love from God. Enlightenment, a gift for yourself, means to harness the awareness that is already inside of you, to start carving a path up the hill to your higher awareness and your higher self. You need to let go of your identification with ego in order to be free. Don’t worry about how you are presenting yourself to the world, just love life so much and embrace the oneness that will lead you back to where you came from. Life is not a competition or race to the finish line, that sense of being more than others or having more material things or accomplishments is what imprisons us. Your true self is eternal and your ego is your false self, when you shine the light of awareness on your ego you will recognize the imposter trying to be you. You are sacred, a soul with a body, not a body with a soul. The ego is just an idea that you have of yourself, it prevents you from knowing your true self, it influences your every thought and ultimately controls you. When you buy into the ego’s idea of separetness, you give into the ego. Free your higher self from the ego by simply changing thought patterns that you have allowed the ego to form and build on for so long. Just reading this is shining a light on your ego right now. Do you...
